Meditation can align the energy centers of the body known as chakras.

From easing the pain of a woman in labor, to relieving stress or enhancing psychic ability, meditation can bring about many medical and spiritual benefits. One benefit some meditation practitioners enjoy is the ability to align the chakras. By keeping the chakras aligned, it's believed the body maintains a higher energy level.

What Are Chakras? Where are the Chakras Located?

The chakras are energy points in the body. Although invisible to the human eye, chakras can be seen by people who are capable of seeing etheric energy. According to famed psychic Edgar Cayce, the chakras are associated with specific endocrine glands.

The chakras are located at the base of the spine, the lower abdomen, the upper abdomen, the chest, throat, brow and top of the head. If aligned and balanced properly, the chakras will line up in a straight line; this optimizes the energy in a person's body.

Sometimes the chakras fall out of alignment and energy in the body is lost. This can happen due to unhealthy living, stress or any kind of negative energy. A simple meditation can realign the chakras, thus returning the energy to the body. The following meditation takes less than ten minutes and really revitalizes the body.

A Meditation To Align The Chakras

Find a place to sit down. This can be on the floor with legs crossed or on a chair. Sit up straight so the back is erect. Close your eyes and start to take deep, cleansing breaths. Try to clear the mind and not think of anything.

Once a state of relaxation is achieved, envision a sewing needle in your mind. Now, take a piece of thread and thread the needle. Beginning with the chakra at the base of the spine, take the needle and slowly pull it up through each of the chakras.

As you're doing this, imagine each of the chakras coming together and beginning to form a straight line. Continue running the needle through each chakra until you reach the one at the top of the head. Now, take that needle and pull it out of the top of the head and give it a nice tug. Your chakras are now aligned!

To bring some addition energy into the body, now envision a warm, glowing light come into the body and allow that light to encircle each of your chakras. Take a little time to enjoy the warm energy running through your body and then end the meditation when ready.

There is no set time as to how often the chakras should be aligned. It's usually a personal choice. Some people like to align their chakras daily, while others feel that once a week is sufficient. By maintaining good energy levels in a person's body, the individual can enjoy feelings of well-being, physically, mentally and emotionally.
