An increase in work, health problems, financial or relationship difficulties will all have an eroding effect on our natural energy reserves. Small wonder we feel tired, withdrawn, irritable, run down or depressed from time to time. These everyday problems which are sometimes completely out of our control can have a huge impact on our health in general and if ignored, niggling health issues can evolve into conditions which can become a lot more serious.

There is much that can be done to keep our energy levels and immune system functioning normally; having the belief that the human body can heal itself with a little helping hand, is a good starting point.

Visualizations or guided imagery has been used for relaxation and healing for a long time. It has become increasingly popular of late as some of the benefits are almost immediate and the techniques are simple to learn. There are many self-help books advocating the benefits of Visualizations and Meditation as well as online courses or workshops based locally.

Visualizations can be used in a number of different ways and one advantage is that it can be adapted entirely to the persons own circumstances or needs. Key benefits are that it can be used motivationally, in anger management, for relationship issues or for success and is an excellent tool to use in preparation for life’s challenges.

Using Visualizations regularly, also affords you the opportunity to find a quiet space and to have some quality time to yourself which is vital with modern day’s stresses and heavy demands on time. These sessions can be done indoors or outdoors but must be somewhere where noise level and disturbance would be kept to a minimum. Unplug the phone and ask family or friends to respect your needs to be alone for a little while.

When you have chosen your quiet corner, take a few minutes to concentrate on your breathing and to let any tension go. Tension gets stored within the body often without the realization that it is there so it is important that any stagnant tension is identified, acknowledged and then released.

Healing Fountain Visualization

Keeping eyes closed, and the breath soft and natural, imagine walking into a room, painted completely in white. There is an air of peace and tranquility all around and the room is welcoming.

Walk towards the centre of the room; imagine in front of you, a beautiful white fountain ornately carved. Take a moment to picture the fountain, imagine you are running your fingers over the smooth stone. Let the tranquility and peace envelop you.

To begin the self healing process, visualize a stream of colored light emanating from the centre of the fountain, it raises high up into the air in an arc and then falls towards you, bathing you in beautiful shades of blue.

Blue is the most powerful of healing colors and feel these vibrant shades of blue bathing your body from tip to toe. Immerse yourself in a shower of blue, turquoise and violet until you feel totally refreshed.

For specific healing, then focus the color surrounding that area and feel the warmth as the healing color does its work.

At the end of the Visualization, take some deep breaths, mentally assessing how you feel before letting your conscious environment reclaim you.

A healing visualization can be done at any time and any place where you can find a few minutes to call your own. A full visualization is not always necessary, but healing with colors is a wonderful way to keep your immune system functioning fully and to help combat stress. Best of all, you can be as creative as you like with your visualizations, choose colors that you are attracted to, ask for advice, visit beautiful locations as you see fit. It’s your visualization so make it work for you.
